AARP needs us all

Today, the AARP published its first direct commentary on the House reform of the medical reality the Republicans propose to replace Obamacare. the AGE TAX clause would be a serious blow to people 50-65- They could see their insurance costs increase by thousands of dollars. We face a fundamental question. Is the United States by and for the People or by the Ron Paul, Paul Ryan, and other right-wingers for Special Interest Groups. Please, read AARP today (March 9) on-line. Bury your representative and senators in mail that expresses your outrage.

Outwith Public Health

Soon the congress will begin to debate the future of public health for the people of the United States. The discussions will surely be long and trend setting for the role and the place of persons of all ages, conditions and heritage in our country. The American Association for Retired Persons is preparing itself for a serious defense of health care, but without massive support from all of us, it will be an up hill battle, even if the AARP does count of the solid support of leading congressional figures such as Dr. Ronald Paul (known as Rod among friends), Paul Ryan,  and Steven King from Iowa. They, like so many smart tomatoes on the Republican vine, have always shown themselves to be knights in shinning armor to defend the created equal.

Obamacare was domed from the start.  Mr. Obama was and is a fine person but frankly he will not go down in history as a productive leader. As with Woodrow. Wilson,  Herbert Hoover, Jimmy (rarely known as James) and the little Bush,  he tried hard but to please all is to alienate  everybody.

In many countries today, our leaders try to justify cutting back after years of exuberance in spending. Here in Spain the center-left PSOE under the direction of Madame Díaz in Andalusia has adopted an extremely insidious road to cutting back on social benefits such as education and public health. As is common in her public posturing she never says Yes, nor does she so No. She always says the Opposite: could be, maybe and might too. In essence what  she and her  self-proclaimed socialist  gang are doing is  to whittle away, little by little, at the educational and public health systems they swear they are defending. Thusly, she doesn´t have to allocate funds for what is no longer available. Just imagine how such devious policies would outrage the Republican right-wingers!  Spanish socialists are far more clever than our champions of special interests.  For something like $20 a year we can join the AARP.

Politicians here or there

Our real enemies in political life are not this cynical senator or the interests sensitive representative, the mayor who has to place his wife´s dumb cousin in a job or the governor who runs to important meetings in the public interest like the Tourism Fair in Paris or Rio, or the Nation Hand Gun Convention in Omaha- My worst enemy in the political life of the city, state and country is my own fat ass.

From this side of the Atlantic too, people tend to sit back, munch on one junk food or another to complain as the TV set spits out stupidities. What are those stupidities? They are the so-called analysis of the self proclaimed news experts who with half the facts under their control try to help us understand the half the facts that our glorious leaders (no relation to North Korea´s anointed one…yet) are trying to hide from us. Here as well as there politicians know that we moan and groan but keep voting for the same old flavors of vitamin enriched ice cream a la democrat, republican or populist. Here and there they pat us on the head. From time to time, in voting season, they tell us to wake up beautiful. Time to vote for daddy again. They call us once and then breathlessly they wait hoping we will roll over and sleep it off.  Long live democracy in action!

Friends here and there, we must fill our hands with our future. I suggest that we buy a roll of postage stamps. On the web we find the addresses of all our politicos.  Write them! Put terror in their heart knowing that the giant is indeed awake and upset. Then, at election time let´s put our corn chips and dips and beer to the side, pull it out of the chair and vote them out of office if we are unhappy.  Democrats?  Republicans?  Trumpets there or the Mariano, Suzie, Pablo here or the Marie wrapped in the French flag there? So what´s the different if their empty babble hides the nature of the reality they offer us. With some exceptions, of course, we are not their beloved friends but their means to their ends. Let´s each of us lick a few stamps!

South of the border

Spanish Sunday´s press carries detailed articles on the masses of people from various nations waiting to sneak into the United States. From what I read it is evident that Mexico does all it can to help them in their daily needs while they wait for the opportunity to journey north. In fact, it is clear that Mexico helps them so that they do flee north. In other word, Mexico doesn´t want them. We can better understand Mexico´s humanitarian effort if we see that for our southern neighbor, the border camps are valves of the pressure cooker. Imagine what will happen when President Trump really insulates the border against the massive,  peaceful invasion by Hispanos and Haitians. Most evil Anglos like me are  in favor of immigration but on our terms, not at the demand or my rights attitude of fine people who seek to escape from the  where they call home. As for Mexico,  just stop looking the other way or absorb those you have let into your country.

Donald, Donald, Donald!

Today´s Spanish press  (March 5)brings us another chapter from the Land of Donald´s Tweets.  Please, Mr. President, please! These on-going episodes of charges out of no where are making you sound like a crank or somebody who sits down to play with a faulty deck of cards.  If you can prove that Mr. Obama ordered your line pinched,  prove it or get back to work. Stop trying to compete with the other reality shows.
